About

HESIOD PROJECT

Inspired from late scientific developments and ongoing research efforts, we have enthusiastically set up the interdisciplinary HESIOD (Holistic-Emergent Social Interaction-Oriented Dynamics) PROJECT, where we systematically and methodologically explore the profound implications of local behaviours and actions for global structures and patterns, and conversely, the deep influence of global factualities on local discourses (a dual, upward-downward, causality). In this general relational context, the social, (dis)order, (dis)organization and (mis)understanding reflexively come from chaos, autopoiesis, agonistic competition, irreducible diversity, mutual evolution and emergence.

PROJECT LEADER: Prof. Ioannis Katerelos

Objects of interest: social simulations, rule-based science, bottom-up science, agent-based modeling, complexity and chaos theory, epistemologies of emergence, unpredictability, non-linearity and social behaviour, opinion formation, group dynamics, network analysis, virtual worlds research, critical realism, methodology of social sciences.
